Function Code X provides alternative modes to the standard modes that data item level.

Mera has a fixed logic functions are responsible for getting data from a record, passing it through any function specified processing and putting it on a form or visa versa.If the line contains a function modification fashion the line is processed twice, once in the original mode and once in modified fashion.

Protected data items automatically have fashion 3 applied to them unless they are calculated, therefore they will not be updated in update mode and they will be displayed in update mode.
